From the beginning, service to our community has been a core value at APMEX. With that core value in mind, for the past 10 years, APMEX has partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in completing more than 1,295 service hours and contributing $2.3 million, which is well over 5,600,000 meals. Since 2011, APMEX has given monetary donations as well as participated in terrific events such as the Letter Carriers event, Students Against Hunger, the Regional Food Bank’s Holiday Match Campaigns, Giving Tuesday and countless others.
Oklahoma is currently ranked the fifth hungriest state in the nation. Most Oklahomans served by the Regional Food Bank include chronically hungry children, hardworking families and seniors living on limited incomes who struggle to make ends meet during the ongoing pandemic. “It will take years for our neighbors living with hunger to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this match and double the impact of their gifts in the fight against hunger,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank.
One of the most prominent days dedicated to giving back and serving our community every year is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a worldwide day devoted to promoting generosity and giving back to communities after the Black Friday and Cyber Monday rushes. At the Regional Food Bank, their Giving Tuesday Holiday match is already underway in hopes to double the meals provided to Oklahomans facing hunger this holiday season.
To celebrate our years as donors and partners of the Regional Food Bank, we asked ourselves how we can continue to help those who are struggling during these times for 2021’s Giving Tuesday. With the Regional Food Bank providing food assistance to 53 counties across Oklahoma, working with them again this year seemed appropriate. Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, we knew we needed to do something to show our ongoing support as the Regional Food Bank works tirelessly to help our fellow Oklahomans.
Today, in continuing that support on this year’s Giving Tuesday, APMEX is donating $250,000 to our partners at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in the name of our employees. In the spirit of service to our fellow Oklahomans, we hope to inspire others in our communities to donate if they are able.
