What is a Triple Gold Maple Leaf?

The Triple Gold Maple Leaf coin stands apart from other issues with a design that emphasizes clarity and structure, highlighting Canada’s national emblem in a new arrangement. The Royal Canadian Mint produced this gold coin using 1 oz. of 99.99% pure gold. The release marks a notable change in the Maple Leaf program by presenting a grouped design of sugar maple leaves. This format introduces a new aesthetic without altering the core identity of the series.

Design and Composition

Designer

The reverse design was created and sculpted by Stan Witten, Senior Engraver at the Royal Canadian Mint. Known for high-relief realism and refined compositions, Witten’s past works include the Million Dollar Coin and the Big Maple Leaf. The obverse portrait of King Charles III was designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, whose effigy began appearing on Canadian coinage in 2023 following the transition of the monarchy.

Design of the Triple Gold Maple Leaf

The sugar maple has long appeared on Canadian coins, but the Triple Gold Maple Leaf offers a different interpretation. The three-leaf grouping introduces a layered, realistic composition that reflects both natural diversity and visual harmony. It expands the visual language of the Maple Leaf series while maintaining its iconic status.

Obverse Design

The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, facing left and without a crown, in line with contemporary royal portrait conventions adopted by several Commonwealth nations. This marks one of the earliest appearances of King Charles III on a Royal Canadian Mint collector gold coin.

Reverse Design

The reverse displays three sugar maple leaves in a naturalistic arrangement. Based on a photograph of real fallen leaves, the design emphasizes asymmetry, depth, and texture. Each leaf is engraved to show vein detail and organic curvature, offering a lifelike representation of Canada’s national tree. This is the first use of a triple-leaf layout on a gold Maple Leaf collector coin.

Packaging and Presentation

Each coin is encapsulated and housed in a black Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell case, which is inside a matte black outer beauty box. A serialized certificate of authenticity is included. Some editions may also come with a Mint-issued booklet that outlines the design process and context.

Quick Guides to Investing

Step 1:

Why Buy Physical Gold and Silver?

If you are concerned about the volatility of the stock market, you’re not alone. The extreme highs and lows of the stock market often lead investors towards safe-haven assets, like bullion. Historically, the Precious Metals market has an inverse relationship with the stock market, meaning that when stocks are up, bullion is down and vice versa.

Step 2:

How Much Gold and Silver Should You Have?

This question is one of the most important for investors to answer. After all, experts suggest limits on how much of any types of investments should go into a portfolio. After deciding to purchase and own Precious Metals and considering how much money to allocate, one can then think about how much and what to buy at any point in time.

Step 3:

Which Precious Metals Should I Buy?

With the frequent changes in the market and countless Precious Metal products available, choosing investments can be difficult. Some want Gold or Silver coins, rounds or bars while others want products that are valuable because of their design, mintage or other collectible qualities. Also, collectors may shop for unique sets and individual pieces for their collections.

Step 4:

When to Buy Gold & Silver

After considering why, how much, and what Precious Metals products to buy, an investor’s next step is when to buy them. This decision requires an understanding of market trends and the impact of economic factors on precious metal prices.
