The Native American Dollar program features annually changing reverse designs honoring Native American contributions. The obverse is the Sacagawea portrait that first appeared on the Sacagawea Dollar in 2000. The Native American series adopted the same obverse in 2009. That change also moved the year, mint mark, and E Pluribus Unum to the coin’s edge. The Sacagawea Dollar series ran from 2000 to 2008 with the Soaring Eagle reverse.
