APMEX Has Teamed Up With Republic Metals To Raise Funds
Following the recent devastating Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, APMEX has teamed up with Republic Metals Corporation to issue 1 oz Silver rounds in an effort to help raise funds and awareness for both hurricane relief projects.
The front of each round features an inset emblematic of each state. “Stand United – Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund” is on one side of the Harvey round with “Houston Strong” on the other. “Stand United – Hurricane Irma Relief Fund” is on one side of the Irma round with “Florida Strong” on the other.
Hurricane Harvey made landfall August 25, 2017, on the Texas Gulf Coast. With wind speeds up to 130 mph, Harvey was the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Wilma in 2005. Just over two weeks later, Hurricane Irma hit the mainland of Florida on September 10. At its peak, Irma saw wind speeds up to 185 mph and was noted as the most intense Atlantic hurricane to hit the U.S. since Katrina, also in 2005. At their time of U.S. landfall, both hurricanes were recorded as Category 4. They had a combined casualty figure of 211 victims with an estimated damage figure of $133 billion.
